Tales of a Ubuntu salesman

Business Biscotti Slough West – 10th April 2012

Currently in the midst of moving both home and business I am currently exhausted in the extreme. Most of the past week has been spent decorating and it was not possible to attend all the business biscotti meetings I wanted to. However the Slough meeting was rather interesting and for the second time I found myself wishing I’d brought Ubuntu discs with me!

Two business owners took great interest in the idea of a virus free system that doesn’t cost the earth and I do wonder whether there is a market in the small business or perhaps home use by small business owner arenas. I shall continue to attend these and we’ll see how things develop.

Good news this week as selling on Amazon has taken off so fast that we sold out in six days! We have been offering the games consoles we repaired on there and I do think there is considerable irony in us repairing Microsoft’s shoddy work in order to fund our promoting Ubuntu! Having sold the lot we must wait a fortnight for the proceeds and then repeat the process over again. There are several areas of expansion here which once funded will help to produce the sort of income we need in order to perform.

As a result of the fantastic sales this week we don’t have a huge amount to offer at the Tottenham Court Road fair, that is where I am right now and I’m not expecting amazing results due to this. However there are customers who have specifically requested our presence so we do need to be here. I don’t expect to report back on today’s trading unless something very unusual occurs.
